The rule of thumb in windy conditions, is to hit the ball low when into the wind and high when with the wind. Sounds easy enough but many golfers do not heed this unchangable rule.
When hitting into the wind take a three quarter backswing which allows for more control and lower trajectory. When hitting with the wind, hit the ball harder by increasing the pace of your swing, this imparts more backspin which means greater height. More height hitting with the wind will obviously create more carry. Play smart and use the wind to your advantage.
