Not that long ago, a cover was used to cover only the top half of the golf bag. The cover snapped to the bag itself and away you went. More often than not, clubs were damaged or lost in transit. Once from Phoenix to Cleveland, in the late 70s, my clubs ended up in Hawaii. When they were finally delivered, my wooden driver had a huge crack in it.

Travel bags are an absolute necessity. When you purchase one, get the best you can afford. It will be well worth the cost and unnecessary worry of having your clubs damaged in transit. They can be purchased at any golf retailer shop.

He had such a bad case of the yips that he even feared walking on greens.

Johnny Miller had such an extreme cae of the yips that he would imagine (while putting) that it was his own son who was actually putting the ball for him. Sometimes, on short putts he would look at the cup instead of the ball. During one period, in order to neutralize his condition, he put a big red dot on the end of his grip. “All I did was watch the red dot whenever I putted,” Miller said.

The course is a Robert Trent Jones design, full of doglegs and 11 out of 14 blind tee shots. The first round saw Nicklaus shoot 81, Player 80 and Palmer a 79, in high winds.

Asked his opinion of the course after the second round, HIll said, ” They ruined a good farm.” “How did you find the course?” Hill said “I’ve been trying to find it since I came to Minneapolis, just because you cut the grass and put of flags doesn’t mean you have a golf course.”

It is that expectation that discourages any possibility of having a good round of golf.

The best way to approach the problem of high expectations, is to just allow your subconscious mind to take over. Delete all swing thoughts from your mind at address and just “give it” to your body. If you have done your share of practicing, a good swing will occur. Too many swing thoughts will cause you to try to control the shot which is the worst thing you can do.
