Making Short Putts

Creative Commons License photo credit: dan taylor   Pressure means having to make a 3 or 4 ft. putt to win a match.  Even PGA Tour Players get weak when faced with a simple, straight 3 1/2 footer.  Missing the short putt is a confidence breaker.  It can make you crazy, especially when you realize that the missed 3 ft. putt, was just as important as the 285 yard drive you just hit !

For short putts be sure to swing with your shoulders and arms with no wrist involvement.  Keep your eyes down after impact.  Try this drill:  Once in the address position, try pushing the ball towards the cup without taking a backstroke.  This exercise will help you learn the proper follow-through which is so important on all short putts.
