Choking down on the grip will take spin off the ball which can be of great benefit in windy conditions. It will also make the ball travel somewhat lower which also can help in the wind.
When choking down, you can expect to take about 5 yards off your normal distance but the little that you lose in distance is made up in having more shot control. It is necessary to bend your knees slightly more when chocking down, also. If you forget to bend your knees you may top your shot. Make a smooth rhythmic swing and focus on your target. Practice this shot and lower your scores.
