Creative Commons License photo credit: danperry.com   Improve your handicap with better approach shots.  The odds of making a 15 ft. putt are considerably higher than a 20 footer.  If you sharpen your short game (within 100 yds.) and concentrate on landing your shots within the 15 ft. perimeter, the law of averages dictate that you will make more putts.  Keeping the odds in your favor will do wonders for your game.

The “scoring” shots are all made within 100 yds. of the pin.  Typically, there are 14 driving holes on the course, on a good day, a tour pro will hit maybe 8 fairways.  Long iron approach shots are not much different in that the ball may land on the green but not within 15 ft?  Bottom line: short approach shots put you in position to score.
