Par 5 Mindset

Creative Commons License photo credit: Dru Bloomfield – At Home in Scottsdale   How do you handle par 5 golf holes?  There are typically four par 5s on every course, therefor, you automatically have a four shot advantage.  Most golfers are capable of reaching a par 5 in 3 shots.  A drive, mid/long iron and short approach should put you on the green.  If you are good with your short game, you should be able to land the ball within 12 ft. of the cup.  From 12 ft, you have a 50/50 chance of making a birdie.  If you miss a birdie, at the very least, you’ll make a par. 

Examine your attitude about par 5s because that’s where you can shave strokes.  Think of par 5s as an opportunity to lower your score.
