photo credit: nsaplayer Par 5s, in most cases, give you a good opportunity to make birdies. They average between 500 and 550 yards. so a decent drive and good second shot should give you an easy approach of approximately 100 yards.
Well designed courses give you a choice for your tee shot. With fairway bunkers to catch an errant shot, careful consideration should be given to shot placement. Don’t try to overpower your tee shot by thinking you’ve got a longer hole to play. Tee shots are not as important as your second shot. The second shot can set up an easy approach.
Play away from trouble with your second shot and try to set up your approach from the wide side of the green. A good approach will put you in position for an easy birdie opportunity.
