Shoulder Alignment

photo credit: Daniel Glifberg The number one set-up problem with most amateurs is incorrect shoulder alignment. Generally, the lead shoulder faces away from the target. This means that if you’re a right-hander your left shoulder faces left of target.
An ”open” shoulder creates an outside to inside swing path which creates a slice. It is imperative that your feet, knees, hips AND shoulders are all aligned together. Even if your feet, knees and hips are aligned, if your shoulders are open, you will still slice the ball.
Tip: Stand up straight, facing the ball, at a right angle to your target. Now, simply grip your club and bend at the waist. You should now be in the correct address position. Use this method every time you start your address, it works great !
