A shot that bores through the wind with a high degree of control especially useful on windy days.  To play a knockdown shot, adjustments in your set-up are required.

The ball should be played farther back in your stance, keep your weight distributed about 70% on your left side.  To acquire a downward blow, there must be a low follow-through after a slightly shortened swing..

There is a difference between a knockdown and a punch shot.  The knockdown shot travels the same distance but does not have the same height as a regular shot.  The punch shot, which requires a softer feel and an abbreviated follow-through, does not travel nearly as far as the knockdown.  The knockdown pays great dividends in windy conditions.
